✨ Welcome to the club

This guide covers a few important topics that are unique to our Birmingham club. If you ever have questions or need support, please reach out to Member Services.

⚡️ All-City access

Switchyards membership includes 24/7 access to all of our current and future clubs.

🌐 Wi-Fi

Across all locations, our network name is Switchyards and the password is madewithsoul.

🛟 Reserve a phone booth or meeting room

All locations offer phone booths or meeting rooms for private calls and Zooms. These spaces must be reserved in advance. Drop-ins are not permitted.

Book a room at switchyards.com/rooms. It takes about 20 seconds.

You’ll receive a check-in reminder email 30 minutes before your reservation. You have up to 10 minutes after the booking start time to check in. If you do not check in, your reservation will be canceled and may be rebooked by another member.

Each Club Room includes a Club Room Kit with dry erase markers, an eraser, and spare remote batteries.

🍎 Rules for a great experience

Switchyards is a shared space, and you’re going to bump into your neighbors.

To keep the experience great for everyone, members are expected to follow club rules and respect the space and each other. Members who routinely violate the rules or are generally disrespectful may be removed from the club.

🗄 Membership Dues Portal

Use the Membership Dues Portal to update payment information, view billing history, and manage your account.

🚪 Access

All members use the Alta Open app to access the club.

You will receive a separate email from Avigilon Alta Open inviting you to download the app. Check your spam folder if you don’t see it. Look for the subject line: Activate your mobile key for Switchyards.

You will not be able to enter the club without this app. If you did not receive the invitation, contact Member Services.

🚙 Parking

There are 7 dedicated parking spaces available on-site for Switchyards members. These spots are located behind the club and are clearly marked with Switchyards signage.

Once these spots are full, free street parking is available throughout the surrounding neighborhood.

🔮 Opening the doors

All members use the Alta Open app to enter the club.

With the app installed, scan your phone or wave your hand near the black reader by the door.

If your access is set to Always Allow, your phone can stay in your pocket. Otherwise, you’ll need to unlock your phone to scan in.

If you experience access issues, contact Member Services after checking your spam folder.

🦉 24/7 access

The club is open around the clock for focused work. Access and security monitoring are in place at all times.

👋 Clubkeeps

Because our clubs are open 24/7, staff are not always on-site. Our Clubkeeps monitor the space remotely and physically check in every day. We call this invisible hospitality.

📰 Club Paper

Club Paper is a member-created publication by and for the Switchyards community. Submit your work at switchyards.com/clubpaper. Copies are available in the club.

🌵 The Space

The club is designed for both collaboration and focus.

Small in-person meetings and conversation are welcome in the café area. For calls or Zooms, please use one of the four bookable phone booths or the Club Room. Restrooms are located in the back right corner of the club.

🔍 Lost and Found

If you’ve left something in the club, contact Member Services. Include “Lost and Found” in your message for faster support.

This is a shared space with shared expectations. Please follow all club rules to ensure a great experience for everyone.
